Produce RFID labels, tags, and tickets
in-line on press |
The Tamarack P500 RFID inlay insertion system installs in-line on press to produce RFID labels, tickets, luggage tags, garment swing tags, and wristbands— for logistics, asset tracking, anti-counterfeiting, inventory control, security, and other applications.

The Tamarack P500 RFID installs in-line on new or existing flexo presses to produce RFID-enabled products. The equipment is installed on press bases located between the print stations and the finishing section. The Tamarack P500 RFID equipment includes an unwind unit to feed an RFID inlay web, a vacuum applicator and cut-off unit to cut off and apply each inlay to the adhesive side of the label face stock, and a hot melt system to provide a pattern of pressure-sensitive adhesive in the area of the dry inlay. Options are available for one-wide or multi-wide production, removal of defective inlays, and integration of UHF and HF readers.
Mark Andy has designed a press module for the Tamarack equipment; the press components include the press bases, an overhead bridge for the face stock, a lower web path for the liner, and the delam/relam components. In addition, Tamarack has retrofit other flexo presses to provide RFID label production solutions. Special projects and custom installations are welcome!
While the flexo press provides an excellent platform to convert RFID-enabled products, the press remains available to produce a variety of other (non-RFID) jobs – resulting in excellent production flexibility, scalability, and return on investment.

The Edale Lambda is a flexible, scalable converting solution. The Lambda web converting platform is available in three widths, operates at speeds up to 500 ft/min, and offers reregistration of preprinted webs. Modules — such as print stations, rotary die cut units, and the Tamarack P500 RFID system — can be added to meet job requirements; each module is servo-driven and is positioned on a sliding platform, providing a ‘plug and play’ solution. Modules can be reconfigured and interchanged, and configurations can be modified at any time, making the Lambda a very cost-effective and adaptable solution for the growing RFID market.

Provide RFID case and item level tagging: affix RFID labels or inlays in-line on folder-gluer |
The Tamarack Vista affixes RFID labels or RFID inlays directly on shipping cases or folding cartons to meet supplier mandates and to provide a cost-effective approach to inventory tracking, anti-counterfeiting, and theft deterrence. Installed in-line on flexo folder-gluer (for case-level tagging) or on folder-gluer (for item-level tagging), the Vista provides an opportunity for corrugated and folding carton manufacturers to enter the exciting, growing RFID market.

The Tamarack Vista is added to new or existing folder-gluers. A roll of RFID labels is metered by the Vista, and each RFID label is peeled from the liner and affixed in registration to the shipping case or folding carton. Alternatively, a roll of dry inlays is metered by the Vista, and each inlay receives a pattern of cold adhesive, is cut-off, and is affixed in registration to the shipping case or folding carton. Affixing dry RFID inlays directly to folding cartons and corrugated shipping cases provides a lower-cost production alternative—avoiding the cost of using converted RFID labels.
The Vista offers innovative operation and operator-friendly features. Operators enter the label or inlay repeat dimension and other simple job parameters into an easy-to-understand, menu-driven touchscreen. A scanning system, combined with servo technology, provides on-demand affixing: no RFID labels or inlays are applied when cartons are not present. And the unique joining method provides high quality RFID label or inlay placement.
